Jennifer also completed studies in a range of bodyworks through the AIAS (Australian Institute of Health Sciences) a VETEC accredited college at Stones Corner, Brisbane. She graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Acupuncture and Moxibustion plus Diplomas of Remedial and Oriental Massage and Sports Massage. As a registered ANTA Fellow (Australian Natural Therapists Association) Jennifer is a registered healthcare provider in all the above mentioned modalities www.anta.com.au Jennifer is also a registered Biomesotherapist and member of the AAOH (Australian Association of Homotoxicology)
Jennifer's extensive career in acute care, medical, surgical and paediatrics units as well as maternity, psychiatric and outpatients clinics have proven useful assessment tools, and she still retains Queensland State Enrolment (endorsed for medications) with the Queensland Nursing Council. Raising four healthy children enables Jennifer to relate to family health issues and she provides practical advice as well as healthy lifestyle options. Having spent a great deal of her youth on a farming property, Jennifer is well versed in agriculture and the type of chemicals and fertilisers affecting environmental health.
Jennifer emphasises the reality that although alternative methods of treating illnesses are often of great assistance in regulating the body to restore good health, natural medicine is not able to cure all disease states, and that people need to be educated on the philosophy of naturecure. TCM philosophy of disease estimates a time frame of one month for every year of chronic illness using appropriate alternate therapies. Therefore an estimated recovery time for relief from 25 years of symptoms would be at least 25 months using natural therapies to become symptom free. Jennifer regularly attends training seminars to update her knowledge and skills. She attended traditional Oriental techniques in Vietnam and Thailand in Sept 2010. Jennifer does not make any false claims for professional overseas qualifications. All her degrees have been obtained in her native country of Australia and are visible on this site. Jennifer is proud to be an Australian and believes our standards of healthcare are unsurpassabable anywhere else in the world. Jennifer's paternal ancestry goes back 5 generations to some of the first English pioneer FREE settlers ithat arrived on the sailing ship HMS Eden fromPlymouth and settled in South Australia. Jennifer's heritage includes well known SA doctors, engineers, farmers and notable SA sports identities. Jennifer works hard to live up to her family name that was implicated in South Australia's history.
Jennifer was born an English mother and Austalian born father who was at the time serving for our country in the Australian Army. Jennifer's mother had travelled to Australia on the HMS Queen Mary with the Governor of South Australia and his wife, Lord Winston and Lady Dugan, with whom she was employed. Her mother later resigned from her position with the Governor to marry Jennifers's father several years before she was born. When the war broke out, Jennifer's father was sent overseas to the Middle East and did not return until Jennifer was aged 4 years. Her parents worked hard to educate their family of three at the very best schools and Jennifer graduated from Woodlands Girls Grammar School at Gleneld before commencing her nursing training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Jennifer raised 4 healthy children and spent a number of years as a farmer's wife. She returned to nursing when they moved to Mackay in Queensland and during that time she studied natural therapies. Jennifer turns 70 next birthday, and she still works five days a week at her clinic and likes to spend the weekends visiting family and beautiful new grandchildren.
About Ron Weekes - the clinic's healing hands
Ron Weekes is an experienced massage therapist and Hyperton-X Kinesiologist. As a former gymnastics coach he provides exceptional treatment for sporting injuries. Ron spent a large part of his life workiing in the mechanical industry, but had always been called upon by friends and family to attend to aching muscles. Growing up in Bowen, Ron was a neighbour of the famous Stace family of Chiropractors who trained at the Shelbay College in the Tablelands. The Staces' felt that Ron had a gift with massage, and made the effort to train him properly. What Ron learnt from those amazing gurus all those years ago proved to be worth more than gold. Ron has continued to update his learning and completed his studies in Hyperton-X Kinesiology under internationally recognised Brisbane naturopath and kinesiologist, Trevor Savage. Overseas visitors to our clinic frequently return from US and UK specially to be treated by Ron Weekes. The gift of healing hands is something no amount of training can achieve, it is simply a GIFT.
